The "Bruine Boon" as its called, is a good restaurant with good food. For a while it was very much a cozy restaurant popular with university students for its good food and good pricing. More recently however, they seem to be catering more and more to an older and wealthier crowd. The food is still good, the portions are still good though a little smaller than they used to be, but the prices have gone up. The pricing is still reasonable, but I can't go there as often as I used too.

Service is good and friendly, consisting mostly of students since Leiden is a big university city. The atmosphere has recently changed a little to a more upscale feeling but thankfully still retains much of its cosy character. The restaurant is divided up into two sections, the main restaurant section in the back and the section in the front which is intended mainly for drinks but you can also get your dinner there.

A meal of one main course and two drinks will set you back about €15,- to €17,- per person.

They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Open until 23:00, kitchen closes at 22:00.
