Transformers
Anyone around the age of thirty might remember a wildly popular cartoon series called Transformers. Now we can all enjoy the thrill of cars, airplanes and tanks transforming into gigantic robots whom then procede to bash each other over the metallic heads.
As with most classic cult-like series or movies, most people I talked to before seeing the movie were afraid that director Michael Bay would ruin a great childhood sentiment. Fortunately, at least as far as I’m concerned, that is not the case. The movie was well put together, has a reasonable plotline and manages to explain the Transformers and Autobots vs Decepticons well in the time alotted.
Offcourse, having a hottie like Megan Fox in one of the two lead roles also helps, but the movie stands firmly on its own two feet. The musical scores in general were good and the actual robots and their transformations looked awesome.
The fear of some people that the original transformation sound effect would be butchered is unfounded. True, it doesn’t exactly jump out at you but it is there and the sound effect as used in the movie isn’t bad at all. Another worry some had was the voice for the Starscream character being too soft. The character did not have a whole lot to say in the movie, but as far as I could tell its voice wasn’t too bad.
All in all, good viewing.
